Current Series: God's Work God's Way
The apostle Paul wrote to the church in Colossae to strengthen their confidence in the absolute supremacy and sufficiency of Jesus Christ. Surrounded by competing philosophies, religious traditions, and spiritual speculation, the Colossians were tempted to look beyond Christ for fullness. But Paul declares that in Christ "all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell" (Col. 1:19), and that through his death and resurrection God has reconciled all things to himself. Having been united to Christ by faith, believers have died to the old way of life and have been raised to walk in newness of life (Col. 3:1). Therefore, the Christian life is not about adding to Christ but about growing deeper into him—putting off the old self, putting on the new, and allowing the peace and word of Christ to rule every part of life. As Christ is preeminent over all creation, so he must be preeminent in his church, in our homes, and in our daily witness until his glory fills the earth.

Response to the Word
Apostle's Creed
We believe in God,
the Father almighty,
Creator of heaven and earth.
We believe in Jesus Christ,
his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit
and born of the Virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died and was buried;
he descended into hell.
The third day he rose again from the dead.
He ascended into heaven,
and is seated at the right hand of God
the Father almighty.
From there he will come to judge
the living and the dead.
We believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and life everlasting.
Amen.
