Psalms for the Season

Began on 12/13/2015

The mother of Jesus met the news of her pregnancy with faith in her heart and a song on her lips (Luke 1:46-55). When the angels arrived to announce his birth, they filled the heavens with songs of glory to God and goodwill to men (Luke 2:14). And when the time came to finish what he was sent to do, Jesus sang a hymn of praise on his way toward the agony of the cross (Matthew 26:30). In every way it seems the life of Jesus was framed by song.

So it's not surprising that Jesus quoted the book of Psalms more than any other. It is a giant songbook stuffed with songs that stir the people of God. There are songs of praise and of thanksgiving, songs about suffering and songs about joy. Most significantly, however, the psalms are songs about Jesus (Luke 24:44), which truly makes them Psalms for the Season.
